Gay media entrepreneur Tony Sawicki created the concept for the magazine and will serve as its publisher. "It's something of a gay, online version of People Magazine, only a lot dishier, with greater focus on nightlife, and not always PG rated," he explains. Sawicki also produces the successful underground television series Under the Pink Carpet, and is president of the show's parent media company, Underdog Productions, Inc.
"We're launching DishMiss as a print adjunct to our television production efforts. A lot of things that we just can't include on Under the Pink Carpet are more appropriate for a magazine style platform," he says. As an example, Sawicki cites a racy outtake from an interview with celebrity commentator and gossip columnist Michael Musto on the subject of preferred sexual positions. "We couldn't put that part of the interview on PBS television," Sawicki confides, "but of course we could stream it on DishMiss.com."
The new magazine's tagline is: "Entertainment & Nightlife Dish . . . with a Twist," and the twist is that all content is of specific interest to the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community. Recurring features will include movie reviews with hilarious, potty-mouthed critic Billings Carringford, celebrity gossip, reports from the hottest gay nightspots and parties around the country, movie clips, trailers, outrageous videos, book reviews, crazy snippets, and more.
"Like our television series, DishMiss Magazine will have a campy, irreverent slant, while at the same time providing informative, educational news to the LGBT audience," Sawicki promises. " Its an interesting and fun combination of short articles, reviews, and video clips. We're still in the infancy phase, with a lot of growth ahead, but there's already a fair amount of traffic coming through the site."
DishMiss readers call the magazine a fun escape, a guilty pleasure, and an informative online resource. "If you're heading out to the bars tonight, visit DishMiss first," advises Clover Honey, who is notorious for her ability to schmooze at celebrity studded soirees. "Successful networking is all about being adept at small talk – having interesting topics and tidbits to launch a conversation with. First, read DishMiss -- then you can walk right up to that hot guy or girl at the party and start up a dialogue that's fun, interesting, and topical."
Who knows??? With DishMiss on your side, you'll not only have a fabulous online destination to visit for daily dish -- you just might meet the god or goddess of your dreams, too!
